The challenge

Fourteen galleries across nine warehouses, each with different ceiling heights, floor conditions and power capacity. Artworks arrived over six weeks, several of them after the build was supposed to be finished, and the industrial fabric had to stay visible.

Scope delivered

  • Gallery wall systems and plinths across nine warehouses
  • Museum-grade lighting design and installation
  • Climate and humidity control for sensitive works
  • AV playback for eleven media installations
  • Four months of on-site technical support

How it was executed

The requirement spec was written per warehouse rather than per gallery, because the constraint was the building, not the curation. That let three partners price the same nine buildings and let Core compare them line by line on wall systems, lighting positions and power distribution.

A rolling installation programme replaced a single handover. Each warehouse had its own completion date and its own snag list, so a late artwork in warehouse six never held up the opening of warehouses one to five.

Four months of operation meant maintenance was part of the scope, not an afterthought. A two-person technical team stayed on site for the full run, and every lamp, media player and climate unit had a documented replacement path.

Service categories on this project

Each one was written as its own work package, priced by competing partners against the same requirement spec.
